MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has ordered cops to prepare for possible attacks by the New People’s Army (NPA).
Dela Rosa particularly directed cops to take caution against the Special Partisan Armed Revolutionary Unit (SPARU) of the NPA that carries out ambush attacks against members of the police and military.
Since January 2017 until March 22, 2018, there have been 65 recorded incidents of attacks by the SPARU unit of the NPA.
The PNP chief said President Rodrigo Duterte hired the services of retired cops to teach active policemen how to counter the tactics of SPARU.
“We have retired police officers commissioned by the president to orient young officers that lack exposure against insurgency. They should share their knowledge so these cops would be aware of the modus operandi of the SPARU. — UNTV News & Rescue
