MANILA, Philippines —Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is proposing for the implementation of localized peace talks instead of the national government doing the negotiation with the communists.
The lawmaker said the government is always on the losing side in its dialogue attempts with the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Democratic Front (CPP-NDF).
He noted, the rebels are just using the peace talks as a way to get funds as they continue to carry out their abuses.
“Talagang pinagsasamantalahan nila simula nang naupo si Duterte sa pwesto bilang president. Nilagay niya ‘yung mga komunista sa key Cabinet positions na pinakikinabangan ngayon ng communist movement,” said the senator.
