According to Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga, there will be a P45.00 increase in electric bills of households consuming 200 -per-kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month of April.

It will increase more depending on the kilowatt-hour consumed. This will be Meralco’s third electricity rate increase this year.

Given na yan kada summer months,” Zaldarriaga said.

(During summer, historically, there is high demand [for energy] because of increase in consumption. Because of this, it puts pressure on the price of electricity. It’s a given during summer months.)

He added that the rate of electricity will go down when rainy season starts until the “ber” months.
