MANILA, Philippines — Retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio Eduardo Nachura believes that a quo warranto petition can be filed against an impeachable official such as Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Nachura said the petition has to be made available to go after public officials whose credibility and appointment to government office is being questioned.
“It can be used to question the right of a public officer to continue holding public office if there is an irregularity in the title to the public office,” the former justice explained.
Nachura served as a Supreme Court justice for four years and worked as the solicitor general during the term of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. — Roderic Mendoza | UNTV News & Rescue
