“I want them identified.”
This was the statement of Philippine National Police Chief Police Director General Oscar Albayalde referring to disgruntled cops who are bashing him on social media.
In a press conference Monday, April 23, Albayalde disclosed that loads of negative comments against his policies can be read on a certain Facebook page under the account name “Buhay Lespu.”
He particularly mentioned attacks to his conduct of surprise inspections when he was still chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
“Ang website na ‘Buhay Lespu,’ lahat iyan against doon sa ginagawa natin doon sa NCRPO. Pero kapag pumunta ka doon sa website ang mga kababayan natin, lahat sila ay natutuwa at sinasabi nila na iyon ang tama,” the PNP chief said.
(The website “Buhay Lespu” is very critical of my actions in the NCRPO. But if you check other comments, majority of the people approve and say it is the right thing to do.)
“So makikita mo ang attitude ng mga pulis natin, iyong mga pasaway. Kaya sabi ko doon sa DICTM (Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management), I want them to be identified and I’ll make them report to my office personally,” he added.

The PNP chief noted that he has nothing against freedom of expression but there are certain limits to it especially for members of a government organization such as the PNP.
He added that criticisms against legitimate orders from superiors should be aired and addressed in a proper forum.
“Hindi kailangan na magsalita ng ganoon, to back fight. Kailanman hindi tama sa amin na mag backfight ka especially (against) sa iyong commander. Napakasamang ugali noon. They can be charged for insubordination,” the PNP Chief said.
