Manila, Philippines – Mark John Simondo of the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City has topped the 2017 bar examination, the Supreme Court announced Thursday.
Simondo marked a passing rate of 91.05% and bested all 6,749 law graduates who also took the four-day bar examination which was held at the University of Santo Tomas.
The SC said this is the first time in 16 years that a topnotcher passed the 90% mark.
SC said this year’s bar examinations recorded a passing rate of 25.55% with only a total of 1,724 examinees passed the 75% passing grade.
