PNP chief Oscar Albayalde and his police Facebook bashers
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde has ordered the deployment to Sulu of 11 policemen who were his “bashers” on social media.
Aside from them, Albayalde confirmed that there will be another batch of cops to be sent to Mindanao soon. However, the PNP Chief clarified that the deployment is not a form of punishment against his critics but as augmentation to troops in Sulu.
However, the said policemen are not yet cleared of possible charges for insubordination.
“They will be charged accordingly for conduct unbecoming of an officer,” Albayalde said.
On the other hand, Albayalde said he opposes the observation of some who say Mindanao, particularly Sulu and Basilan are turning into “dumpsites” of police scalawags or errant policemen.
Albayalde said that troops sent to the region are not always exclusively erring policemen . He said part of every cop’s job is to be assigned in different places when necessary.
“Kulang na kulang iyong mga pulis natin (We are lacking manpower) especially here in parts of Mindanao,” he said.
Albayalde added that a number of “scalawags” or “ninja cops” recommended for deployment are still defying orders by not reporting to duty. Some of them, according to Albayalde, had been killed in resistance with colleagues. On the positive note, some have been promoted for showing improvements in handling their jobs.
“Iyong iba (Others) they really appreciated (it,) like in Region 12 and ARMM. Sabi nila napakagaling kasi magaling sila mag-imbestiga (They are being praised for their investigative skills),” Albayalde concluded. – Dante Amento / Marje Pelayo | UNTV News & Rescue
