QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Friday, May 11, filed criminal and administrative complaints against Alvin Mañalac, barangay chairman of Barangay Tinajeros, Malabon City.
Mañalac is among the more than 200 barangay officials that PDEA named as having links with illegal drug trade.
He is now facing charges in violation of the R.A. 6195 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
According to PDEA National Capital Region Director Ismael Fajardo Jr. the complaint was based on information that the agency’ received from Chinese authorities regarding a shabu laboratory tagged as “Dragon Woo” that was operating in Barangay Tinajeros. The said shabu facility was allegedly owned by Mañalac, who was said to be a member of a drug syndicate called “Golden Triangle.”
Fajardo said investigation against Mañalac is ongoing while the agency is still gathering evidences against other barangay officials on the agency’s narcolist. – Grace Casin |
