Scene of the attack against former congressman Eufranio Eriguel
Former La Union congressman Eufranio Eriguel and two of his companions were shot dead during a meeting de avance around 7pm, Saturday at Barangay Capas, Agoo, La Union.
The victims were rushed to La Union Medical Center in Agoo but were declared dead upon arrival.
Police identified the two other casualties as Bobby Ordinario and Mac Roel Tuvera.
Eight other people who were wounded in the incident were given prompt medical attention.
Based on initial report of the Agoo police, Eriguel was in the middle of a speech when unidentified suspects aboard a black Montero and white Innova gunned him down.
Authorities are still conducting an investigation into the incident.
This was not the first attempt against Eriguel’s life. In 2016 the former lawmaker survived a bomb attack on his convoy during a campaign. — Toto Sua Fabros | UNTV News & Rescue
