MANILA, Philippines – A new mobile application, which was launched just in time for the celebration of the National Heritage Month, will help Filipinos learn about the country’s historic and cultural sites.
“Iyong Pananda, isa siyang mobile app na pwedeng gamitin ng user para ma-explore at makita iyong historical markers na in-install ng Historical Commission of the Philippines,” explained app developer, Eugene Alvin Villar.
(“Pananda” is a mobile app that may be used by the user to explore and see the historical markers installed by the Historical Commission of the Philippines.)
To date, the app has 521 historic site markers with helpful information that can be viewed on an interactive map. Users can even mark the places already visited or prefer to visit.
“Suporta namin ito para sa ginagawa ng gobyerno…na i-promote ang ating kalinangan, kasaysayan, at para mas maging aware iyong ating mga kapwa Pilipino na marami pa tayong pwedeng matutunan tungkol sa ating bansa,” Villar added.
(This is our support to the efforts of the government… to promote our culture, history and so that our fellow Filipinos will be more aware that there is still a lot to learn about our country.)
With Pananda app, accessing historical places and markers is easier as it covers most of the places that shaped the Philippines today. It also reminds Filipinos of its rich history that locals still have to explore and treasure. — Leslie Longboen | UNTV News & Rescue
