MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) Northern Police District nabbed mother and daughter Ruby and Ajira Calabio in a follow-up operation Tuesday, June 12, in their home in Sta. Ana, Manila.
NPD Director PCSupt. Clifton Empiso said the police seized from the suspects a luggage containing 24 kilograms of shabu valued at P163 million.
Two other suspects believed to have links with the Calabios were previously arrested in Caloocan.
“From those two suspects naka-recover tayo ng 20 grams ng shabu. Ininterview natin sila kung saan ang source nila so they mentioned about Sta. Ana,” said Empiso.

PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde believes the illegal drugs may have been sourced from overseas.
“This is indicative doon sa nakuha din nating 650 kilos na shabu that was being smuggled sa Valenzuela na na-recover. So there’s a big possibility na ito ay smuggled papasok sa ating bansa,” Albayalde said.
