A condominium under construction in Barangay Salud Mitra, Baguio City collapsed at around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, killing an engineer, an administrative officer and injuring a construction worker.
The fatalities were identified as Engr. Patrick Lachica and human resource officer Hanna Jean Aragon.
Construction worker Salvador Opiana was also wounded in the incident.
Rescuers had a hard time during their operation due to the continuous rain that only increased the threat of a landslide.
“Nahirapan talaga kasi malambot na yung lupa eh, so risky na talaga magtrabaho. So mabilisan na lang yung ginawa natin doon kasi nakita naman natin pagdating doon sa site talagang na pinned down sila, nakalock yung paa nila hindi natin mahugot so kailangan talaga nating manu-manung maghukay,” Baguio City Emergency Medical Services Chief SFO2 Richard Poschor said.
