Alternative transportation E-trike
QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Five point-to-point (P2P) bus units started servicing students from CP Garcia Avenue and along Katipunan Avenue on Wednesday, June 20.
They now serve as replacements for tricycles following the directive from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB.)
LTFRB Board Member Atty. Aileen Lizada on Tuesday, June 19, accosted tricycle drivers plying on the highway, posing risks especially to student passengers.
The buses charge P8.00 per student from Katipunan Avenue to Aurora Boulevard while parents or guardians pay P10.00 each.
“Kami po ay taos sa pusong tumulong po sa ating LTFRB para matulungan din ang mga riding public natin dito sa Katipunan,” said DNS Transport Operations Manager Patrick Joseph Bocobo.
“Maganda wala nang abala…Mas safe ito pag umuulan,” said Joy Dionisio, a passenger.
“Kung araw-araw ganito at saka eight pesos lang, kasi yun lang talaga kaya namin,” said another passenger Che Tuvilla.
The local government also sent e-trikes to augment the transport units and they are free of charge.
Meanwhile, tricycle drivers assured that the operations of the P2P buses and e-trikes do not affect their income.
“Pagdating doon tatluhan ng tatluhan wala namang problema, okay naman sir, basta mahalaga yung safety ng riding in public. Kung kami, sunod tayo sa ordinansa. Aanhin mo malaki ang kita kung madisgrasya ka naman,” said Loyola Heights/Pansol TODA President Alex Baay. – Reynante Ponte / Marje Pelayo
