ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Some armed men killed barangay captain Remia Prevendido at a beach resort in San Joaquin, Iloilo City on Sunday (June 24).
The victim died of multiple gunshot wounds after the unidentified gunmen sneaked into her room and shot her.
Also killed in the incident was the family’s helper Analee Antipatia while Remia’s husband, Bonifacio Gregorio Sr. survived and is now recovering in a hospital.
Remia was the barangay captain of Bakhaw Manduriao, Iloilo. She is the sister of slain Iloilo drug lord Richard “Buang” Prevendido.
She was among the Philippine National Police’s high-value targets for her alleged participation in the illegal drugs trade in the area with her helper serving as a drug courier.
“She is included in the Prevendido drug group…Based on the other interviews with the suspects involve talaga siya because some of them nagasasabi na she is the one receiving money na kinokolekta out of drugs,” explained PCI Joem Malong, Spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO) 6.
