QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization (ACTO) has charged Chairman Martin Delgra III of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Board Member Ronaldo Corpus of alleged corruption in the agency.
ACTO national president Efren de Luna accused the two officials of violating Republic Act 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act for favoring large corporations in awarding a franchise for new route applications.
The group argued that bigger companies do not serve the general public as compared to UV express vehicles whom the agency oftentimes deny franchise.
“Nakikita namin doon sa mga pabor na ibinibigay niya ay talagang merong tinatawag na graft and corruption ditto,” De Luna claimed.
Delgra and Corpus are yet to comment on the complaint. – Rey Pelayo / Marje Pelayo
