QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered ride-hailing company Grab Philippines to pay P10 million pesos fine for overcharging.
LTFRB also compels Grab to reimburse the P2 pesos per minute that the company illegally charged to passengers.
The order took effect on Monday (July 9) but LTFRB released the copy of the order on Tuesday (July 10).
Grab PH is given 15 days to file a motion for reconsideration against the decision. Once denied, Grab PH can still appeal to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Meanwhile, Grab PH said they have to study the decision first with their legal team before making an official statement on the issue. – Joan Nano / Marje Pelayo
