Mugshot of celebrity doctor Joel Mendez for rape complaints
MANDALUYONG CITY, Philippines – By virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Imelda Portes-Saulog of the Mandaluyong RTC Branch 214, members of the Eastern Police District arrested known celebrity doctor Joel Mendez for a count of attempted rape and two counts of rape.
Mendez was nabbed at the basement of the BSA Twin Towers in Mandaluyong City on the evening of Thursday (July 12).
A relative of the alleged victim said her niece was molested by Mendez when she was 17.
Aside from rape, Mendez also has a standing arrest warrant for non-remittance of his employees’ Social Security Services contributions.
Mendez is now under the custody of the Custodial and detention unit of the Mandaluyong police station. – Lea Ylagan / Marje Pelayo
