QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has begun issuing the first batch of fuel subsidy cards to public utility jeepney operators in Metro Manila on Tuesday (July 17).

Each Pantawid Pasada card is loaded with P5,000 fuel subsidy which they can use to buy engine fuel to accredited gasoline stations.

The Landbank of the Philippines was tasked to distribute the subsidies through an ATM card to jeepney operators.

However, Assistant Director Del Romero of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Oil Industry and Management Bureau said only few gasoline stations so far are accepting the fuel subsidy cards from over 8,000 gasoline stations across the country. This is because other fuel stations are still on the process of adopting the mechanism to accept the fuel subsidy cards.

Nevertheless, the
LTFRB clarified that operators with surnames starting from letters A to M may avail for the first batch of fuel voucher cards on Tuesday (July 17). Those with surnames starting from letters N to Z will have their chance on Wednesday (July 18).

To avail, operators should present a valid identification card, a photocopy of the valid ID, an ID picture and the vehicle’s proof of franchise.

The list of qualified beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pasada fuel subsidy may be accessed through the LTFRB’s website and social media account. – Mon Jocson / Marje Pelayo
