Four men were arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Manila Police District in Paras Street, Pandacan, Manila around 9pm Wednesday.
Target of the operation was 18-year old Reynaldo Punzalan, a suspected drug pusher and resident of the area.
According to Police Senior Inspector Pidencio Saballo,Jr., a neighbor tipped the Pandacan Police Station that Punzalan was selling shabu in their area.
“Notorious na tulak daw po ito kasi ang tatay, ang nanay nito, kasalukuyang nakakulong at siya ay inirereklamo palagi ‘nung mga kapitbahay niya. So, siguro, itong kaptibahay niya, hindi na nakatiis. Nagsumbong na sa atin through text message,” PSInsp. Saballo said
(He is a notorious pusher whose parents are both in jail. His neighbors are always complaining about him. Maybe they got fed up and decided to text us.)
Authorities immediately arrested Punzalan after a poseur-buyer was able to purchase shabu from the suspect, .
Three other men who are believed to be customers of the suspect were also arrested.
Twelve sachets of suspected shabu were seized from the suspects.
Punzalan admitted to selling shabu which he said he sources from an alias Obet and alias Orlan — both residents of Mandaluyong City.
PSInsp. Saballo explained, “Ang area nila, dito sa Kahilong sa Pandacan. Marami silang parokyano. Malakas din silang makaubos ng shabu sa isang araw. Minsan, nakaka-order siya sa kinukuhanan niya ng dalawang beses sa isang araw.”
(Their area is in Kahilong, Pandacan where they have lots of customers. They can finish selling everything in one day. At times, they have to order from their supplier twice in one day.)
A follow-up operation is now being conducted by the authorities to pursue other contacts of Punzalan in the operation.
The arrested suspects are currently in the custody of MPD Station 10 and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Asher Cadapan, Jr.
