In a weather bulletin issued by state weather bureau PAGASA, Habagat or southwest monsoon continues to bring moderate to occasional heavy monsoon rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Mindoro provinces. This may trigger flooding and landslides in the said areas.
Visayas and Mindanao may expect generally fair weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA has observed two weather systems outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
Tropical Storm Yagi, formerly Karding, currently moving northwest, was roughly 1,190 kilometers north-northwest of extreme Northern Luzon (outside PAR). Yagi, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 110 kilometers per hour (kph) has left the PAR on Saturday (August 11). However, over the weekend, it has enhanced the monsoon rains which caused flooding across Metro Manila and nearby provinces. The weather authority said that the weather disturbance has slightly weakened as it continues to move inland over eastern China.
Another weather system, Tropical Storm Leepi, currently moving northwest, was spotted at 1,895 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon (outside PAR) with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 105 kilometers per hour (km/h). Leepi has slightly intensified off Northern Luzon but has no direct effect in any part of the country.
Meanwhile, NCR-PRSD on Monday (August 13) at 12:00 p.m. has issued a yellow warning level rainfall advisory over flood-prone areas of Zambales and Bataan. Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac may expect light to moderate with occasional heavy rains within two to three hours. — UNTV News & Rescue
