ILOCOS SUR, Philippines – A total of 41 families lost their homes to a massive landslide in Amguid, Candon, Ilocos Sur.
Days of torrential rains caused soil to erode, damaging houses and prompting residents to evacuate.
Soil erosion has also damaged the main water pipe in the area, leaving residents to contend with water shortage as well.
The local government said they have already provided the affected residents with initial financial assistance, particularly those whose houses were totally damaged.
Local officials are also discussing plans to relocate them to a safer place.
