QUEZON PROVINCE, Philippines – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Wednesday, August 15, announced before more than 8,000 educators, the plan of President Rodrigo Duterte to increase the monthly salary of teachers.
“Well ang sabi ng Presidente, matapos ang TRAIN 2 doon niya talagang hahanapan ng pondo para maitaas muli ang sahod ng mga teachers,” Roque said during the annual teachers convention held in Quezon Province.
He added that the Congress is now working on the draft of the second tax reform package of the Duterte administration after which, they lawmakers may then proceed with the measure for teachers’ pay hike.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence Go, for his part, is also closely coordinating with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) regarding the proposal.
“Sa kasalukuyan meron na po silang salary standardization that ends on 2019. Pagkatapos po nito ay ako mismo magpafollow up sa ating Pangulo o sa ating kalihim ng Budget and Management para po isunod kaagad ang kanilang unti unting salary increase,” he said. – Japhet Cablaida / Marje Pelayo
