QUEZON CITY, Phillipines – Private vehicle owners may soon apply accreditation to operate a transport network vehicle service (TNVS) unit.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will resume accepting TNVS applications beginning August 24.
LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra said a total of 10,000 slots will be opened for prospective applicants.
The procedure will be online through the LTFRB website where the application form and the list of requirements will be posted.
Once the application is lodged, the LTFRB will notify the applicant for appearance to claim the franchise.
All 10,000 slots will be added to the existing 55,000 active operators already in the database of the agency to complete the 65,000 supply cap that the LTFRB set for TNVS.
Meanwhile, the LTFRB has marked September 1 as the deadline for the processing of franchise to operators already in the master list.
Once completed, the agency plans to kick-start its crackdown against colorum TNVS units. – Joan Nano / Marje Pelayo
