PASAY CITY, Philippines – Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson made a surprise announcement in Senate on Wednesday (October 3).
The controversial singer-turned-Cabinet official resigned from her position citing “threats” from several lawmakers over the approval of the Presidential Communications Operations Office’s (PCOO) budget.
She made the announced during her opening speech at the Senate hearing on PCOO’s budget for 2019.
“My own decision… Pinipigilan ng makakaliwang kongresista ang budget ng PCOO dahil lang sa akin…Matagal na po akong mapipiglan, pero ang last straw kumbaga ay ito ngang paggipit ng ilang kongresista sa budget ng PCOO,” she said in an ambush interview in Senate.
Uson recently drew flak over a number of controversial posts on her social media account with her blogger-friend Drew Olivar particularly a video of an alleged inappropriate presentation of federalism followed by another which irked the deaf community. – Marje Pelayo
