MANILA, Philippines — The management of the Philippine National Police- Supervisory Office on Security and Investigation Agency (PNP-SOSIA) issued a memo last November 5 prohibiting its personnel from soliciting donations this holiday season.
This was after the agency’s chief received complaints about individuals who were posing as SOSIA personnel and asking stakeholders to donate for their holiday parties. Stakeholders of SOSIA include security agencies and training centers.
SOSIA Enforcement Management Division Chief PSupt. Jaime Santos warned of conducting entrapment operations against poseurs who are soliciting cash and goods purportedly for the SOSIA party raffle.
He added that SOSIA Chief PCSupt. Reczon Acabado has never ordered the agency’s personnel to solicit anything for their parties.
He also reminded his fellow policemen not to use their position to solicit gifts this holiday season.
He added that SOSIA personnel always wear an ID and carry a letter order from SOSIA stating the purpose of their visit every time they go to a security agency, mall, bank, hotel and other establishments to conduct inspections. — Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
