MANILA, Philippines – Loss of lives of Filipinos and massive destruction of government infrastructures.
These are fruits of the 50-long-years of existence of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), a clear reflection of a ‘failed’ rebellion, according to Malacañang.
“It’s a failed rebellion. It only resulted in the loss of lives of Filipinos especially the numerous young students who were killed in ambushes, skirmishes, battles and in sickness in the hills, who could have served their country well in pacific and productive means, as well as the destruction of properties,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
Wednesday (December 26) marks the 50th year of the CPP’s foundation.
According to Panelo, many rebels have already responded to the calls of the government “to return to the fold of the law”.
While others die for a lost cause, Panelo said, their leader Joma Sison “remains ensconced in his ivory tower of comfort and luxury.”
“No wonder the forces on the ground no longer follow him hence his regular rants against PRRD to give himself the appearance of relevance,” he said.
Panelo added that: “It’s time for him to wave the white flag before his physique gives up on him. There is honour in returning back to a democratic society and embracing the constitutional order.”
Meanwhile, AFP Western Mindanao Command Spokesperson Lt. Col. Gerry Besana said the communist rebels have no reason to celebrate because the group has done no good to the country.
Besana added that it is obvious that the terrorist group has no clear ideals as they have never been contented under anyone in the government.
“Limampung taon ng katarantaduhan, panloloko, panggugulo sa buong Pilipinas at dito sa area namin sa western Mindanao command. Limangpung taon din iyong kanilang panggugulo at pasakit hindi lang sa gobyerno mas lalo na sa ating mga kababayan,” Besana said.
