MUNTINLUPA CITY, Philippines – Several young motorcycle riders were apprehended hours before the new year.
The Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau said aside from illegal firecrackers, authorities also do not allow excessive motorcycle exhaust noise or noisy mufflers.
“Marami kasing nagrereklamo dito sa Muntinlupa sobrang ingay daw. Pwede naman pong hindi na magingay pede naman magcelebrate na tahimik lang,” Assistant Supervisor Danilo Manera of the Muntinlupa Traffic Management Bureau.
“Ang corny kuya syempre sira na motor ko hinuli pa rin ako nagbobomba daw kami ng motor,” said Joshua Ilyane, an apprehended motorcycle rider.
A total of 50 motorcycles were impounded by authorities due to various violations such as driving without helmet and driving without license.
“Ang trabaho namin manghuli ng open muffler bale P2,500 multa. Another violation ay ang no helmet P500 pesos tapos yung driving without license P1,000 pesos. Kapag minor, impounded yung motor nila driving without license,” Manera explained.
Manera added that they did not lack in reminding the public of the ordinances imposed in the city. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Sherwin Culubong)
