Around 300 families were left homeless after a fire perished their homes in Barangay Sto. Tomas Biñan, Laguna.
Edwin Makilang, one of the affected residents, said that there was not enough time to save any of their belongings.
Ang bilis ng pangyayari (The fire spread too quickly. The firemen had a difficult time controlling it. Everything happened too fast),” he said.
Affected residents call on the local government for aid, such as clothing and food. They are currently staying at a basketball court.
Based on the initial investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection, the fire stemmed from a caldero of rice left unattended on a stove.
BFP Chief of Biñan City FCInsp. Genalyn Casabal reminds the public to always be careful when cooking.
One small mishap can cause a devastating effect. A lot were affected [from the fire]. So be extra careful)” she said.
