P200 million worth of cocaine found floating off Sorsogon waters

P218 million worth of suspected cocaine was found floating off Gubat, Sorsogon waters by fishermen on Monday (May 27).

Based on the report Gubat Municipal Police Station, three fishermen netted 12 boxes of illegal drugs from the waters of Barangay Bagcacay.

Authorities suspected the 39 kilos of cocaine blocks were not intended for the Philippines.

“Halos lahat ng package ang lagay ay ‘BOX’ so maybe may mga pa-stored sila na iyon ang kanilang mga cocaine na orders na ide-deliver from somewhere else pero not intended for the Philippines, (All the packages has ‘BOX’ written on it so maybe they are made for storage and that those cocaine are orders to be delievred from somewhere else but not intended for the Philippine)” according to the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Police Regional Office (PRO) 5 Spokesperson PMaj. Malou Calubaquib.

The PNP Bicol region will turn over the blocks of cocaine to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

“Dadalhin pa siya sa Metro Manila for the schedule for destruction of illegal drugs kasi hindi naman siyang gagamitin as evidence so hindi siya itatago, iyong mga recovered so automatic for destruction iyan, (The [blocks of cocaine] will be delivered to Metro manila for the schedule for destruction of illegal drugs because it will not be used as evidence. They are all for automatic destruction)” Calubaquib said.

The national police lauded the cooperation of the three fishermen in Gubat, Sorsogon. They will be awarded on Monday (June 3) by the PNP-PRO 5.(with reports from Allan Manansala)
