Several Senate members have signified their support to the leadership of Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
This is amid reports that the entry of the Hugpong ng Pagbabago bloc in the Senate has created a rift among the lawmakers in as far as chairing committees is concerned.
Senator Grace Poe said that should the issue of changing of Senate leadership is pushed by the said group, this could possibly be a way for the opposition to gain strength.
Poe added that she is even prepared to side with Senator Sotto in the minority group.
“Sa tingin ko kapag pinalitan nila si Senator Sotto may banta talaga na may mga iba talaga na hindi sasanib sa mayorya. Ewan ko kung mas dadami pero masasabi ko, mas lalakas kung lumipat si Tito Sen sa minority [I think if they will replace Senator Sotto, there is a possibility that some (of us) will leave the majority. I don’t’ know if there will be an increase (of membership), but all I can say is that the minority will gain strength if (Senator Sotto) will join them],” Poe added.
