Japanese ambassador to the Philippines Koji Haneda paid a courtesy call to Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso at the Manila City Hall on Monday.
Ambassador Haneda expressed his approval of Moreno’s accomplishments in Manila in just a short a time since his assumption of office as the city’s chief executive.
“I am impressed with your achievements for the City in so short a time,” Haneda said.
The Japanese official also vowed to promote the historical trail of Intramuros as Japan recognizes its footprints in the city.
“I am going to promote the historical trail of Intramuros because it has a Japanese footprint too. It is a magnet for Japanese tourists,” Haneda told Moreno during their meeting.
With this, the Japanese envoy also extended his invitation to Moreno to visit Tokyo and Yokohama.
After the meeting, Haneda gave Moreno a white plate with the image of a phoenix as a token to remember his visit.

In return, Moreno gave the Japanese ambassador the symbolic key to the city of Manila.

Haneda is the fourth ambassador to meet Moreno following his election as Manila mayor. (with details from April Cenedoza) /mbmf
