Pagbubukas ng 34th ASEANAPOL Conference, pinangunahan ni Pres. Aquino

MANILA, Philippines — Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang pagbubukas ng 34th ASEAN Association of Chiefs of Police (ASEANAPOL) Conference sa Pasay City, ngayong araw ng Martes.

Dumalo sa pagtitipon ang mga delegasyon mula sa sampung national police agency na member states ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Kabilang sa mga ito ang hepe ng Royal Brunei Police Force, Cambodian National Police Force, Indonesian National Police, Myanmar Police Force, Singapore Police Force, Socialist Republic of Vietnam Police, Royal Thai Police, Royal Malaysia Police, Lao People’s Democratic Republic Police Force at Philippine National Police.

Kasama ring pumunta sa conference ang mga dialogue partner mula sa Australia, China, Japan, New Zealand at mga representante mula sa International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).

Tema ng nasabing pagatitipon ay “Forging Strong Partnership or Peace, Security And Progress.”

Ang PNP ang syang host ngayon taon at kanina ay pinangunahan ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III ang opening ceremony nito.

“Today 33 years later we are once more honored to host this conference for the fifth time as we endevored to forge stronger partnership for peace and security and progress,” pahayag ni PNP Chief, Police Director General Allan Purisima.

“I am confident that you will make the most of this opportunity to build stronger mechanisms, through the Joint Communique that you are about to sign at the end of the conference, and create strategies that will redound to the betterment of our respective societies, and ASEAN as a whole,” pahayag ni Gen. Purisima.

Hinikayat naman ni Pangulong Aquino ang ASEANAPOL member states na gumawa ng mga pamamaraan upang lalong mapalakas ang kooperasyon ng bawat isa laban sa kriminalidad.

“I encourage all of you here: Let us explore new avenues of cooperation to minimize the breathing room of criminals; let us share best practices with one another; let us bring our security agreements to fruition by optimizing the synergies between our countries acting as one voice along the spirit of ASEAN platform,” saad pa ng Pangulo.

Layunin ng naturang taunang conference na mapagusapan at mapatatag ang kooperasyon ng mga bansang kasapi sa ASEAN pagdating sa usapin ng transnational crime na may kaugnayan sa illegal trafficking, terrorism, arms smuggling, human trafficking, maritime fraud, commercial crime, bank offenses at iba pa.
