The Manila City government has begun the construction of a coronavirus disease (COVID-19) testing laboratory at Sta. Ana Hospital.
On Saturday (May 16), Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso announced that the construction of the COVID-19 testing laboratory is part of the city’s long term plan to combat the virus.
“The room and the laboratory area is now being built bilang paghahanda ng inyong pamahalaang lungsod sa mga darating na buwan ng buhay natin na kabahagi natin si COVID-19, (for the local government’s preparation in the coming months of our lives with COVID-19),” he said.
Domagoso also said the laboratory will help in increasing the number of confirmatory tests which will pave the way for better COVID-19 responses.
According to the Manila Health Department, about 1,533 confirmatory tests have already been conducted in the city. AAC (with reports from Dante Amento)
