The daily tally for COVID-19 cases drops to 766, with 104 new recoveries, and 15 deaths.
As of 4 PM of December 28, the Department of Health (DOH) Bulletin reported a decrease from 883 last Sunday (December 27). However, the health department clarified that the low recorded COVID-19 cases this holiday season is due to the fewer individuals getting tested.
The new cases raised the nationwide tally to 470,650.
“We are still continuing to see a decrease in cases over the holiday season (December 24 to January 4). This is due to the decreased number of patients being tested as many people want to celebrate the holidays at home,” the DOH said.
Active cases is at 22,746, while the number of recovered patients is at 438,780. The total number of deaths recorded is at 9,124.
Two duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, one recovered case has been removed. Moreover, one case previously tagged as recovered was reclassified as death. –AAC (with reports from Aiko Miguel)
