MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) is calling all individuals who have been injected with unauthorized vaccines against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to immediately report any adverse effects following inoculation.
“Iyong mga naturukan, mangyari lang po na i- report nila sa kinakaukulan na otoridad iyon pong adverse events na kanila pong naranasan para ito po ay makasama sa ating datos both for the short, medium and long term assessment of these vaccines,” Duque said.
“So kasama naman po yan sa lahat ng mga bakuna iyong sistema for the monitoring of adverse events following immunization or adverse events of special interest. Epidemiology bureau will monitor this, this is to safeguard the health of the vaccinees,” he added.
Duque also asked the members of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) who were reported to have been vaccinated last month to report to them of any adverse effects.
The official stressed that their conditions should be closely monitored to determine the possible results or effects of such unauthorized drugs.
He stressed that the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) handles the investigations regarding the alleged unauthorized vaccination of several PSG members.
The agency is particularly investigating the origin and type of the vaccine used.
“Whether this will be finished by a week or two is something that is not yet clear to us because they are still at the gathering of information stage. They need to interview people and connect the dots,” Duque said.
Meanwhile, the FDA is currently evaluating the submitted emergency use authorization lodged by Pfizer-BioNTech to the Philippines
According Sec. Duque, Vaccine Czar Sec Carlito Galvez Jr already confirmed that possibly the government would start to roll out the vaccination using Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine during the first quarter of 2021.
