PH logs 18,012 new COVID-19 cases

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday reported 18,012 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the nationwide tally of confirmed infections to 2,121,308.

The DOH said the latest tally pushed the number of active cases to 158,637.

Of this, 92 percent are mild, 2.49 percent are moderate, 3.4 percent are asymptomatic, 1.4 percent are severe, and 0.7 percent are in critical condition.

The DOH said all accredited testing laboratories were operational on September 5 but 13 laboratories failed to submit their data on time.

Meanwhile, total recoveries climbed to 1,928,173 after 18,945 more patients recovered from the viral disease.

The death toll rose to 34,498 with 161 new fatalities.

The COVID-19 positivity rate in the country was at 28.1 percent out of the 57,180 tests conducted on September 5, the DOH said.
