MANILA, Philippines — One of the coaches of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 caught fire at around 9:12 Saturday evening.
The fire incident took place along MRT-3 Guadalupe station.
In a statement, the MRT-3 management said it is “currently exhausting all efforts to address the situation, putting into primary consideration the safety of the passengers.”
The management also said provisional service was implemented to ferry passengers from MRT-3 North Avenue station to Shaw Boulevard station.
As of this writing, no casualties and major injuries have been reported.
Minor injuries, however, were recorded including one male and three female passengers. All of them sustained bruises in their legs after jumping off the train to the mainline tracks.
“Lalaki po ‘yung isa. Tumalon po sa tracks from the train. These four people sustained minor bruises, and are now being attended to by rescue personnel,” the MRT-3 management said.
