Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), her office announced Saturday night.
“The Office of the City Mayor of Davao hereby informs the public that Mayor Sara Duterte tested positive for COVID-19 tonight,” a statement released Saturday night said.
It added that the mayor has mild symptoms and is in isolation while caring for other family members who need medical attention in Davao City.
“The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urge the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes,” the statement said.
The Office of the Mayor is calling on everyone who came in close contact with Mayor Sara in the last 14 days to self-monitor for symptoms.
Close contacts are also encouraged to get RT-PCR tested five to seven days from their physical communication with the mayor.
