MANILA, Philippines — The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 assures that the Moderna vaccine doses numbering to around 200,000 that are due to expire in November will not go to waste.
According to NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr., the said vaccine doses will be prioritized in the administration of first doses in scheduled vaccination rollouts.
He cited a similar instance where 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were used even before they expired.
Aside from Moderna, around 4,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines are also due expiration by November.
“We are now conducting a wall-to-wall inventory of those expiring. Sa ngayon ang nakita natin na mage-expire yung Moderna and also those some AstraZaneca vaccines na second dose. But we are looking out on this and the WHO is also monitoring all of this,” Galvez said.
“That’s why ang ginagawa po natin we are zeroing in yung first in-first out. Yung proseso na yun na ginagawa ng ating DOH ay efficiently being executed and implemented,” he added. —/mbmf
