MANILA, Philippines – Court of Tax Appeals justices waited for an hour on Wednesday for former chief justice Renato Corona for the arraignment on his tax evasion cases.

The court read to Corona his six counts of failure to file income tax return from 2003 until 2010.

According to the information of the case, Corona failed to file his income tax amounting to almost P50 million.

Corona refused to enter a plea for each count and the court instead entered a not guilty plea for him.

According to his lawyer, they are still questioning the information of the case.

They have also submitted an urgent motion seeking to defer his arraignment on the other six cases of tax evasion.

The court has asked the prosecution to comment first on the urgent motion filed by former chief justice Renato Corona before they can decide on the matter. (Joyce Balancio / UNTV News)
