MANILA, Philippines – 20 senators have signed the Senate report about its investigation into the Mamasapano incident.

In a text message, Senator Grace Poe said that the number of senators who signed the report is enough so that the draft report can be submitted to the plenary for it to adopt or reject it.

Senator Poe, however, will still wait for the senators who have not yet signed the report before filing it.

The senators who have affixed their signatures are: Poe, Escudero, Sotto, Osmeña, Pimentel, Marcos, Cayetano A., Binay, Recto, Cayetano P., Santiago, Estrada, Honasan, Revilla, Ejercito, Legarda, Aquino, Villar, Angara and Guingona.

The Senate report stated that President Aquino, resigned PNP chief Alan Purisima and former SAF chief Getulio Napeñas are largely responsible for the Mamasapano incident.

Meanwhile, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano believes that the investigation into the Mamasapano incident should continue.

“I want to treat the report of the Senate Committee on Public Order as a partial report, and I prefer that the Senate open the hearing, for the Congress to continue its investigation. For us to know the truth. How can we send to prison those who must be imprisoned in this incident if the investigation is not yet done,” Cayetano said.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV will not be signing the Senate committee report.

“There were several statements especially in the executive session that would have given light to this incident. It will be very much clearer if those statements were included,” he said.

Trillanes wants several information during the executive session to be made public to shed light on what happened in the Mamasapano clash.(Darlene Basingan / UNTV News)
