Twenty-six year old soldier Lt. Eljuhn Aboc suffered a gunshot wound to his right forearm from an M16 rifle in one of the encounters of Philippine Army’s 50th Infantry Batallion against the NPA in Cagayan province last February.

Twenty-five year old Lt. Crismar Lapinig, from Surigao Del Norte, was also hit by shrapnel from a landmine planted by the NPA in Quezon, Bukidnon in January.

Since those incidents, these two men had been confined at the AFP Medical Center.

They are just some of the soldiers wounded in action to keep the country peaceful and secure.

Despite their conditions, they do not hesitate to be deployed again to fulfill their duties.

“It is what we have sworn to do; to serve our country,” said Lt. Eljuhn Aboc.

“If we can recover sooner, the better. We have no hesitation about going back to our duty in the field,” adds Lt. Crismar Lapinig.

Aside from them, AFP suffered casualties during its all-out offensive operations against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Maguindanao.

To help the armed forces particularly the soldiers who run after terrorists, rebels and bandits, UNTV through its vice president for administration Mr. Gerry Panghulan, turned over a check worth 1 million pesos of financial assistance.

AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. was grateful for the efforts of UNTV.

According to him, it is a great help for the soldiers who risk their lives in line of their duty as peacekeepers.

Gen. Catapang also said, the financial assistance can help the families of those who were killed and injured recover from the trauma.

The financial assistance of UNTV for the soldiers and policemen is the initiative of Bro. Eli Soriano of the members Church of God International and UNTV Chief Executive Officer Mr. Public Service Kuya Daniel Razon. (Rosalie Coz / UNTV News)
