Manila, Philippines – Malacañang has refrained from releasing anymore comments on the 20 questions that some members of the congress will send to President Benigno Aquino III on the Mamasapano incident.
The issue was discussed in this morning’s hearing at the lower house in relation to the Mamasapano encounter that killed 44 SAF commandos.
This is after members of the House Committees on Peace and Reconciliation and on Public Order and Safety decided not to accept Makabayan Bloc’s proposal to send their questions to the president
Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. Said “We recognize their prerogative to decide on the motion of their members and that is what already happened. We will not add anything on this statement anymore. That has been our stand from the beginning.”
PCOO Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. advised those who question the president to look into the report of the Board on Inquiry
“It is better for us to focus on facts, because on BOI , the president said that some of the findings or facts are in order. He just stated that some parts are apparently based on speculations.”
Malacañang reiterated that the president provided sufficient explanation on his knowledge and involvement in the January 25 Mamasapano operation.
Coloma said, “If we will look into the speech on PNPA graduation rites last March 26, he said that in his opinion, his past statements are enough and there are other processes to know the important facts.”
According to Malacañang, the Department of Justice is currently doing a separate process to determine the possible culprit in the January 25 Mamasapano operation that resulted to the death in SAF 44.
