Manila, Philippines – The Senate Blue Ribbon Sub-committee is resuming next week its probe on corruption issues in Makati when Vice President Jejomar Binay was still the city mayor.
According to Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, new issues will be exposed in the hearings set on April 13 and 16.
“We will be exposing a major issue about VP Binay on Monday. On Thursday it will be another issue; a new one.”
Trillanes said there are three more issues to be revealed. Earlier investigation focused on Boy Scouts of the Philippines, transactions with Alpha Land and PAG-IBIG fund.
The sub-committee may focus on housing issues on April 13 hearing. Trillanes clarified that the issue will not only focus on VP Binay but on members of his family as well.
“[Incumbent] Mayor Junjun was a councilor when all of these were happening, so he is included.”
Meanwhile, Sen. Trillanes reacted to the criticisms of Vice President Binay on the senate probe.
In his statement, VP Binay said the demolition job against his family is clear to the public and even government agencies are being used for political agenda.
Trillanes said if Binay has nothing to hide, government agencies will not discover anything.
Trillanes added that the vice president’s statement that “the law is being used for the desire of some to stay in power” is applicable to himself.
The committee earlier said the senate probe on the Binays could not be concluded immediately because there are new issues coming out against them.
