MANILA, Philippines — An entry written by a newbie composer from Batangas was proclaimed song of the week on A Song of Praise Music Festival (ASOP) last Sunday.
Jay Llemera did not expect that his very first composition would pass the taste of judges Jungee Marcelo, Dessa and “Doktor Musiko” Mon del Rosario.
Llamera said, “What a happy feeling! First, it was a God-given gift that I was able to write this song and unexpectedly I have a talent for writing.”
This was also the first time for interpreter Mark Douglas to return to ASOP after participating in a competition from an international franchised talent search.
Douglas said, “It’s a nice feeling to sing a song for God. It’s so nice, it’s my pleasure”
The song competed with “Sa’Yo’y Alay ang Papuri” composed by Antonio Rodeo, interpreted by Jan Nieto and “May Dakilang Lumikha” by siblings Boeni Ben and Daisy Jean Aroy, sung by R&B singer Brenan Espartinez.
