MANILA, Philippines — Senator Antonio Trillanes IV submitted a resolution to investigate China’s reclamation activities in Spratlys group of islands.
Trillanes said, the government must know the implications of China’s construction of structures in the West Philippine Sea to the country’s security, as well as the counter measures that the government has been doing.
The investigation will also look into whether other claimant countries are also doing reclamation activities in the said territory and what is hindering the government to defend its position on the said territory.
“We believe it has a very serious security implications so we need to know if our country is prepared for any contingencies. We would want to be enlightened by the national security and foreign policy plans of this government,” the senator stated.
Just recently, the DFA has released a statement regarding the damages brought by China’s reclamation activities in the South China Sea. (UNTV News)
