QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Victims of numerous typhoons in the country went to the Batasan complex early this morning.

Hailing from Tacloban City and eastern Samar, most of them were victims of typhoon Yolanda in 2013 and of Ruby and Seniang in 2014.

Protesters lay down the street to show their gripe against the government for failing to deliver promised projects to the typhoon affected areas.

Nestor, a coconut farmer from Tacloban said, they lost their livelihood after typhoons Yolanda, Ruby and Seniang hit their coconut farm. To date, no aid from the government has reached them.

“The provisions are insufficient that victims of the calamity hardly feel the support. Looking back, they sent 2 kilos of NFA rice only twice as relief.”

Anakpawis Representative Fernando Hicap filed 3 resolutions urging congress to conduct an investigation of the rehabilitation projects by the government for areas affected by the 3 typhoons.

House resolution no.947 aims for the investigation of the no build no dwell zone policy.

House resolution 1950 pushes for the investigation of the alleged incomplete report of NDRRMC regarding assessment of damages incurred by the typhoons.

And house resolution 669 proposes to investigate the alleged over-priced bunkhouses that up to now are not being utilized by residents.

“I am hoping that this will be considered urgent; and it should be because 2 years have passed since Yolanda and the survivors are still stuck in the same situation; no homes; no jobs,” said Hicap.

The group submitted a petition to DSWD signed by more than 22 thousand typhoon victims.

They are requesting for the government to give them cash for work, livelihood programs and for the distribution of the 72-billion peso coco levy fund to coconut farmers. (GRACE CASIN / UNTV News)
