MANILA, Philippines — The authorities said, all victims will be identified after a month or two.
The PNP Crime Laboratory has started collecting specimens from the victims’ relatives.
Crime Laboratory Deputy Director for Operations P/Ssupt. Emmanuel Aranas said, three of the 72 victims have already been identified and only 69 of them will undergo DNA testing. Twenty eight of the 69 were male; 36 were female and 5 of them are still undetermined.
Aranas explained, each victim needs three relatives for a reliable result. To date, 89 relatives have given their specimens which are already being processed.
PNP Crime Lab said, it will take one to two months to identify the victims based on the tests they are doing. The lab has new equipment that can identify victims that are in an advanced stage of decompositions.
The victims will undergo the anti-mortem information, post mortem information and forensic information.
The PNP Crime Laboratory assured that they can finish the test even if it costs as much as 5.5 million pesos or P20 thousand each. (LEA YLAGAN/UNTV News)
