MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III thanked outgoing Navy Chief Vice Admiral Jesus Millan for his service in the Philippine Navy.
Aquino made the gesture during the change of command ceremony at the Philippine Navy Headquarters in Pasay City on Monday.
The president gave credit to the accomplishments of the navy under Millan’s leadership, such as the successful delivery of supplies to our soldiers on board BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal, and the navy’s immediate response to calamities and crises, such as the Zamboanga siege and the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda.
Aquino says that despite the naval force’s limited resources, still it is able to address the security threats to the country.
He challenged incoming Navy Flag Officer Rear Admiral Caesar Taccad to continue the modernization program for the navy and secure the nation’s future.
Aquino admitted that although he does not personally know Taccad, he admires the new Philippine navy chief’s simplicity and humility. (UNTV News)
