UNTV Cup Season 4’s competing teams face-off in a tune-up game

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Teams joining the UNTV Cup Season 4 went head to head in the pre-season game held last Sunday at SGS stadium in Quezon City.

A tune up game has been organized to gather all UNTV Cup participating teams in preparation for the opening of the league’s 4th season.

BFP Firefighters slammed NHA Builders at 68-64 during the first game despite the strong presence of Marvin Mercado and point guard Ralph Tibay.

In the second game, DOJ Justice Boosters won over H-O-R Solons at 70-59, where DOJ Justice Boosters head coach and ex-PBA player Topex Robinson on the lead, giving an excellent play and ball strategies for the Boosters.

In the third game, rookie team ombudsman Graft Busters failed to strike GSIS Furies at 58-42 score.

Graft Busters head coach Ryan Quilala said, this season of UNTV Cup is composed of highly competitive teams that is why they should develop their team even more.

The Graft Busters is expecting for a strong line-up having 7-footer ex-PBA player Ej Feihl and 6’4’’ forward Bernzon Franco.

Meanwhile, the PNP responders battled with MMDA Blackwolves during the 4th game where Responders won the game at 57-48.

The Blackwolves failed to strike the veteran Team Responders despite a better run and gun game.

Responders Ollan Omiping and Antonio Tolentino led the team to win with the combined score of 25 points.

UNTV Cup season 1 and 3 champion Judiciary Magis faced off against Senate Defenders during the 5th game, where Magis reigned at 55-37 score.

Magis Julius Rabino shot 19 points while the Defenders were left behind despite go-to-guy Emmanuel Baltazar’s 15 points.

And the final game was a face-off between AFP Cavaliers and Malacañang Patriots.

Cavaliers won at 43-41, led by Ian San Sebastian, Lesli Cabayo, and Vicente Evidor with a total of 23 points.

UNTV Cup Season 4 will be divided into two groups.

Group A will be composed of Malacañang Patriots, Senate Defenders, PNP Responders, NHA Builders, GSIS Furies, DOJ Justice Boosters.

While group B will be having Judiciary Magis, AFP Cavaliers, HOR Solons, MMDA Blackwolves, BFP Firefighters and Ombudsman Graft Busters.

UNTV Cup Season 4 will officially start on August 24 at the Mall of Asia Arena. (UNTV News)
